Your UK Visa Endorsement Is Approved — Here’s What Comes Next

Securing an endorsement is a significant milestone in your UK visa journey. At Tech Nomads, we walk with you step by step, guiding you from endorsement to visa approval and beyond. Relying only on official resources, this article outlines what comes next, clarifies timelines, and highlights key takeaways to make the process smoother.

Understanding the Endorsement-Visa Relationship

If you’ve applied under the Global Talent visa route (for digital technology, research, arts, or culture), an endorsement from an approved body is stage 1 of your application. The official guidance explains: “You must apply for your visa within 3 months of receiving your letter of endorsement from the Home Office.”

Crucially, endorsement does not automatically mean visa approval. As the official guidance states: “You will not automatically get a visa if you’ve been endorsed.”

For other work routes (such as the Skilled Worker visa), once the employment offer, sponsorship certificate, and eligibility are confirmed, you apply directly for the visa.

At Tech Nomads, we emphasise this distinction: endorsement or a job offer is the trigger, but the visa application itself remains a separate, critical step.

Step-By-Step: After You Receive Your Endorsement

Let’s walk you through the typical journey for the Global Talent route, viewed through the lens of our Tech Nomads support framework.

Step 2.1: Check and preserve your endorsement letter

  • Once your endorsing body confirms success, you’ll receive a letter (or email) of endorsement.

  • Note the date: you must apply for your visa within three months of that date (for entry clearance or permission to stay).

  • Make sure your personal details in the letter are correct (name, spelling, field, endorsing body). If there’s an error, contact the endorsing body promptly.

Tip from Tech Nomads: Save both digital and hard copies of the letter; treat it as a key supporting document for your visa application.

Step 2.2: Prepare for the visa application

While waiting for your endorsement letter, you can begin gathering documents to save time:

  • Valid passport and travel history

  • Any previous UK visas or immigration history

  • Your endorsement letter

  • Evidence of English language proficiency or funds (if required by route)

  • TB certificate or criminal record certificate, if applicable (depending on country)

  • For Global Talent: evidence of your work, publications, contributions in your field (though the endorsing body may already have reviewed th

Step 2.3: Submit your visa application online

Once you have your endorsement letter (or job offer/sponsorship certificate for other routes), you submit your application online via the official site. For Global Talent: “You can apply for the Global Talent visa at the same time as you apply for endorsement, or after you have the endorsement confirmed.”

Process overview:

  • Complete the application form (choose route: entry clearance from overseas, or permission to stay if you’re inside the UK)

  • Pay the visa fee + Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) where required

  • Provide your identity (via ID check app or attend a biometric appointment)

  • Upload supporting documents

For the Skilled Worker route: you must apply online up to 3 months before the job start date.

Tech Nomads note: Ensure all information on your application mirrors your endorsement/job offer exactly (role, dates, salary, field) to avoid discrepancies.

Step 2.4: Biometrics, identity verification & waiting for a decision

After submission, you’ll:

  • Upload or attend for biometric information (photo + fingerprints)

  • Receive confirmation of application receipt

  • Wait for the decision

Processing times vary, but official guidance advises:

  • For the Global Talent visa – outside the UK: usually within 3 weeks; inside the UK: 8 weeks.

  • For the Skilled Worker visa: similar timeline: outside the UK ~3 weeks; inside ~8 weeks.

While waiting, Tech Nomads encourages clients to maintain all correspondence and track any requested additional information promptly.

Step 2.5: Decision and next steps

When a decision is made:

  • You’ll receive an email/letter stating the outcome.

  • If approved, you’ll get either an entry clearance vignette (stamp in your passport) if applying from abroad, or online permission and a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) if switching/extending inside the UK.

  • For Global Talent: following a visa grant, you’re free to enter/remain in the UK and begin working in your field.

  • For Skilled Worker: you begin the work under sponsorship per your Certificate of Sponsorship and visa conditions.

As official guidance states for Global Talent: “Once endorsement has been granted, the applicant can proceed with the visa application.”

Important: If your application is refused, the endorsement or sponsorship certificate may also expire, meaning you may need to restart one or both parts. Tech Nomads can help you assess whether an administrative review or a fresh application is best.

Key Compliance and Post-Arrival Responsibilities

Your responsibilities don’t end with visa approval. Here’s what you should watch for, especially when relocating or beginning your role in the UK.

Work and role obligations

  • Under the Global Talent route, you must work in the field for which you were endorsed (digital tech, research, arts, culture) and not rely on access to public funds.

  • Under the Skilled Worker route, you must work for the sponsoring employer, in the job described on your Certificate of Sponsorship, at the salary and role listed.

  • If you change jobs, employer, or field, you must check whether you need to apply for a new visa or update your route.

Dependants, extensions & settlement

  • Many UK work routes allow you to bring dependants (partners, children) to join you, each with their own application and fee. For example, Global Talent guidance mentions that partners and children can apply.

  • After a period (typically 5 or 3 years, depending on route), you may become eligible to settle permanently in the UK (Indefinite Leave to Remain – ILR). For Global Talent: three years if you held a “leader” endorsement; five years if “potential leader”.

  • Extensions: if you wish to stay beyond your initial visa term, you must apply to extend before your permission ends, confirming you still meet the route criteria. For Global Talent: you do not need a new endorsement if you were originally endorsed, so long as the endorsing body has not withdrawn support.

Maintain validity and compliance

  • Your endorsement or sponsorship certificate must remain valid and not be withdrawn. For Global Talent: validity criteria include endorsement not withdrawn, date of application within 3 months, and applicant aged 18+.

  • You must continue to satisfy route conditions: salary, role, field of expertise, genuine job, etc.

  • Keep accurate records: employment contract, payslips, evidence of work in the field (for Global Talent), to support future extensions or settlement.

  • Notify sponsor/employer and, in some cases, the Home Office of material changes (job, employer, etc) as per your visa conditions.

The moment you receive your endorsement letter is exciting—yet it’s only the beginning of your UK visa journey. If you’re moving under the Global Talent route or another work route like Skilled Worker, having a trusted partner makes all the difference.
