Why This Route
Why the UK Global Talent Visa is different
The Global Talent Visa gives recognised and promising digital technology professionals a flexible way to build their career, company or independent work in the UK. Tech Nomads helps you assess your profile, map your evidence against Tech Nation criteria, prepare your endorsement documents and move from endorsement to the visa application stage with regulated support where required.
Work without sponsorship
You do not need a job offer or a Certificate of Sponsorship.
Freedom to change roles
Work as an employee, founder, director or self-employed professional.
Bring your family
Eligible partners and children can apply as dependants.
Settlement route
Exceptional Talent: ILR after 3 years. Exceptional Promise: usually 5 years.
Before any case preparation, a Global Mobility Expert talks through your background, achievements, evidence and UK plans, then maps your profile against the Tech Nation criteria. The final endorsement decision sits with Tech Nation.

The UK Global Talent Visa is for people already recognised as leaders, or who show strong potential to become leaders, in academia or research, arts and culture, or digital technology. This page focuses on the digital technology route reviewed by Tech Nation.
Technical Profile
Technical applicants
Software engineers, engineering managers, data scientists, AI/ML specialists, cybersecurity experts, product-led technical founders, platform engineers and other specialists building or deploying digital technology.
There are two endorsement levels under the digital technology route. The route you fit affects your evidence focus and your settlement timeline.

Exceptional Promise
Earlier-stage candidates
Earlier-stage candidates who can show strong potential to become leaders in digital technology.
Trajectory and potential: emerging recognition, early contribution and a clear path to leadership.

A Global Mobility Expert can talk through which route may be a better commercial fit for your profile. The final route decision rests with Tech Nation and the Home Office, not Tech Nomads.
For the digital technology route, your case is reviewed by Tech Nation, the official UK endorsing body designated by the Home Office. Their assessors decide whether your profile meets the criteria for Exceptional Talent or Exceptional Promise. The Home Office then issues the visa based on the endorsement letter.
What it is
Tech Nation is the UK organisation responsible for evaluating digital technology applicants under the Global Talent route — recognised by UK Visas and Immigration as the designated competent body for this category.
Who reviews your case
Each application is reviewed by sector experts with experience in digital technology — typically founders, senior operators, investors and technical leaders.
What they look for
Evidence-led applications. Tech Nation assessors weigh demonstrated impact and recognition far more than job titles or company prestige alone.
How the endorsement process works
1
Submit application via GOV.UK
Stage 1 endorsement form on GOV.UK.
2
Tech Nation reviews
Usually 5–8 weeks for a decision.
3
Apply for the visa
Within 3 months of endorsement.
Tech Nomads is not affiliated with Tech Nation. We prepare and submit the case; Tech Nation independently reviews and decides it.
For digital technology applicants, the endorsement application is reviewed against Tech Nation criteria. A strong case needs more than documents — it needs a clear evidence strategy.
Criterion 1
Innovation
Evidence you have created, led or contributed to innovative digital technology products, companies, systems or fields.
Example evidence
Patents, shipped products, novel architecture or a technology a company was built around.
We prepare the materials needed to turn your achievements into a structured endorsement case. Every document should have a purpose — we connect your evidence to the criteria, explain the impact clearly and remove weak or distracting material that may dilute the case.
After endorsement, the case moves into the visa application stage. This is regulated UK immigration work, handled exclusively by Tech Nomads Limited, an IAA-regulated UK immigration firm. Everything before this stage — including the assessment call and case preparation — is non-regulated commercial work.
Endorsement ≠ Visa
Being endorsed does not grant the visa. You must submit a separate visa application within 3 months of receiving your endorsement letter.
REGULATED VISA STAGE

Regulated, end to end
The visa stage is handled as regulated UK immigration work, so your application is prepared and submitted with proper oversight rather than left to you alone.
Elite-specific
For Elite clients, the visa stage includes regulated legal representation, supporting visa documents reviewed by a UK lawyer and post-endorsement support.
Government fees are paid separately. Final service scope is confirmed after assessment and depends on your residence location, case complexity, family members and whether regulated visa-stage support is required.

Government fees paid to UK authorities
Government fees are not paid to Tech Nomads. They are paid directly to UK authorities through GOV.UK. The two example columns show typical totals for the main applicant.

After the call, a Processing Team specialist reviews your profile, evidence summary and the Global Mobility Expert's notes. This is an internal commercial review — Tech Nomads decides whether we can take the case forward, not whether you are eligible for the visa.

CONDITIONAL
Gaps to close first

DECLINE
Not in a position to take it
We are not in a position to take the case at this time. We share what would need to change.
These outcomes describe whether Tech Nomads can commercially take the case. The legal eligibility and endorsement decision rest with Tech Nation and UKVI.
The process has two main stages: endorsement and visa application. The endorsement stage proves the strength of your profile; the visa stage confirms the immigration application after endorsement is issued.
01
Step 1
Profile assessment & route selection
We confirm whether your profile fits Exceptional Talent, Exceptional Promise or another route.
02
Step 2
Evidence roadmap
We map your documents against Tech Nation criteria and identify what needs to be built or clarified.
03
Step 3
Document preparation
CV, personal statement, recommendation letters, evidence documents and your profile narrative.
04
Step 4
Submission
The endorsement application is submitted via the GOV.UK Stage 1 form for Tech Nation review.
05
Step 5
Visa application
Once endorsed, you apply for the Global Talent visa and complete identity checks and biometrics.
Endorsement is not the visa
If endorsed, you must apply for the visa within 3 months of receiving your endorsement letter.
Tech Nomads combines evidence strategy, case preparation, quality control and regulated UK immigration support where required. Our work is built around the reality of Tech Nation decisions: the strength of your evidence, the clarity of your narrative and the fit between your profile and the selected criteria.

Relocation is not only paperwork. Join a curated global community for expert talks, founder firesides, pitch days, networking and practical relocation conversations.
You may be eligible if you are a leader or potential leader in digital technology, arts and culture, or academia and research. For the digital technology route you usually need endorsement from Tech Nation, unless you qualify through an eligible prestigious prize.
Is it hard to get a Global Talent Visa?
It can be challenging because the endorsement application is evidence-heavy. The hardest part is often proving impact beyond normal employment and connecting each document to the right Tech Nation criteria.
How much does it cost to apply?
The GOV.UK application fee is £766, split into £561 for endorsement and £205 for the visa application. Applicants also pay the Immigration Health Surcharge, usually £1,035 per year per person, paid upfront for the chosen visa duration.
Can I do any job on a Global Talent Visa?
You can work as an employee, be self-employed, become a company director, change jobs without telling the Home Office, and travel in and out of the UK. You cannot work as a professional sportsperson or access most public funds.
Do I need a job offer?
No. The digital technology Global Talent Visa does not require a job offer or a Certificate of Sponsorship.
What is the difference between Exceptional Talent and Exceptional Promise?
Exceptional Talent is for established leaders. Exceptional Promise is for earlier-stage candidates with strong leadership potential. The route affects the settlement timeline: usually 3 years for Talent and 5 years for Promise.
How long does the process take?
Tech Nation endorsement decisions usually take 5 to 8 weeks. Visa decisions usually take around 3 weeks from outside the UK or 8 weeks from inside the UK, after identity checks and document submission.
What happens if endorsement is refused?
You may request an endorsement review. You can also consider rebuilding your evidence and submitting a new application, depending on the refusal reasons and your immigration timeline.
