Exceptional Talent vs Exceptional Promise

There are two endorsement levels under the digital technology route. The route you fit affects your evidence focus and your settlement timeline.

Who Decides

The Tech Nation endorsement body

For the digital technology route, your case is reviewed by Tech Nation, the official UK endorsing body designated by the Home Office. Their assessors decide whether your profile meets the criteria for Exceptional Talent or Exceptional Promise. The Home Office then issues the visa based on the endorsement letter.

What it is

Tech Nation is the UK organisation responsible for evaluating digital technology applicants under the Global Talent route — recognised by UK Visas and Immigration as the designated competent body for this category.

Each application is reviewed by sector experts with experience in digital technology — typically founders, senior operators, investors and technical leaders.

What they look for

Evidence-led applications. Tech Nation assessors weigh demonstrated impact and recognition far more than job titles or company prestige alone.

After Endorsement

What we prepare
after endorsement

After endorsement, the case moves into the visa application stage. This is regulated UK immigration work, handled exclusively by Tech Nomads Limited, an IAA-regulated UK immigration firm. Everything before this stage — including the assessment call and case preparation — is non-regulated commercial work.

Global Talent Visa

The process has two main stages: endorsement and visa application. The endorsement stage proves the strength of your profile; the visa stage confirms the immigration application after endorsement is issued.

Who is eligible for the Global Talent Visa?

You may be eligible if you are a leader or potential leader in digital technology, arts and culture, or academia and research. For the digital technology route you usually need endorsement from Tech Nation, unless you qualify through an eligible prestigious prize.

Is it hard to get a Global Talent Visa?

It can be challenging because the endorsement application is evidence-heavy. The hardest part is often proving impact beyond normal employment and connecting each document to the right Tech Nation criteria.

How much does it cost to apply?

The GOV.UK application fee is £766, split into £561 for endorsement and £205 for the visa application. Applicants also pay the Immigration Health Surcharge, usually £1,035 per year per person, paid upfront for the chosen visa duration.

Can I do any job on a Global Talent Visa?

You can work as an employee, be self-employed, become a company director, change jobs without telling the Home Office, and travel in and out of the UK. You cannot work as a professional sportsperson or access most public funds.

Do I need a job offer?

No. The digital technology Global Talent Visa does not require a job offer or a Certificate of Sponsorship.

What is the difference between Exceptional Talent and Exceptional Promise?

Exceptional Talent is for established leaders. Exceptional Promise is for earlier-stage candidates with strong leadership potential. The route affects the settlement timeline: usually 3 years for Talent and 5 years for Promise.

How long does the process take?

Tech Nation endorsement decisions usually take 5 to 8 weeks. Visa decisions usually take around 3 weeks from outside the UK or 8 weeks from inside the UK, after identity checks and document submission.

What happens if endorsement is refused?

You may request an endorsement review. You can also consider rebuilding your evidence and submitting a new application, depending on the refusal reasons and your immigration timeline.
