The Filing Process, Step by Step

Assess eligibility — Map your background against the ten criteria honestly before investing time in a full petition.
Gather documentation — Collect awards, letters, publications, and press coverage.
Draft the petition letter — This is the persuasive narrative tying your evidence to USCIS's standard. It's arguably the most important document in the filing.

Await adjudication — Standard processing can take several months; premium processing (for an additional fee) typically returns a decision within 15 business days.

Is EB1A Right for You?

If you have a strong record of field recognition and want a green card path that doesn't depend on employer sponsorship, EB1A is worth serious consideration. If your record is still developing, it may be worth comparing your options against the EB2 NIW category, which has a somewhat lower evidentiary bar but a different framework for demonstrating merit.
